... Showers and thunderstorms with locally heavy rains likely this Labor Day weekend...
Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms are forecasted for southern New Mexico and western Texas through the Labor Day weekend. A few storms will produce very heavy rains and flooding may occur over isolated locations. Some storms may also produce small hail and strong gusty winds.
Southeast winds will push moist unstable air into southern New Mexico and western Texas while upper level disturbances move into the region. This weather pattern is favorable for more widespread shower and thunderstorm activity with heavy rains being the primary threat.
Persons should listen to NOAA Weather Radio or local television and radio stations for further weather updates. Remember never attempt to walk or drive across water covered roads but instead turn around and seek alternate safer routes of travel.
